Cinnamon Bittern, Purple swamp hen, Jacana, Black headed Kingfisher, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, worth the detour I think.
Decided to take an apartment in Nakhon Sri Tammarat, Thailand. Since I have never been here before, It was time to explore the area for birds. One of the things I look for is a fruiting tree. It usually brings in the local birds that feed on the fruit. Well, spotted one that was about a week from bearing fruit. So I staked it out when it started producing. I was not disappointed, the local birds came in to feed and I got a few shots.
This first bird is a very common bird in Thailand. I had seen it several time in the area so I was sure it would show. And I was not disappointed. A small Barbet, usually kinda skittish. Here I found it a very easy target. I got this shot without a blind. Just standing beside the tree and waiting for them to start feeding.

These next two are very beautiful pigeons. And very common in southern Thailand. Only seen them a few times before moving into this area. ( Click the pic for a larger view )
The last one is a very common bird here. Very sought after in other regions of Thailand but I see this guy daily here in the south. ( Click the pic for a larger view )
Interesting for me to stay and watch. With out being in a hurry it allows me to explore a little more than most.
So looking forward to my next adventure in Thailand. I am thinking of hiring a long boat next week and seeing what it produces.
If interested check back in a few days for an update.
I will get these added to this site as soon as I pick the best pics. Until then if you want to see my daily shots go to my Flickr site: HERE
